How are the schools in Fort Oglethorpe?

Been meaning to ask this. Homes are going for about $186,500 on average. You can expect to pay around $952 for rent here. The median home value here is around $186,500, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Oglethorpe sits at 470.1 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I've been in Eastside for 5 years. Moved from Miami for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Dating scene is rough. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

I've lived in North for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Background: I'm a nurse, 32, moved here 10 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Uptown and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The safety situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for young professionals. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
