Anyone else love living in Fort Riley?

Been living here since 2024. With a population of 8,595, Fort Riley is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 8,595 people. The median home value here is around $222,100, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $222,100 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Fort Riley? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Chicago about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..
