Random thought, I'm a college student here and It's a a small town city with about 7,551 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this?

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (North) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The job market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 40, moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
