Hello, We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Smith sits at 980.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $168,100, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Fort Smith?

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in healthcare here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is underrated. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Eastside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
