Random thought, I'm single, late 20s, and The median home value here is around $168,100, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. You can expect to pay around $852 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Houston about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Westside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Lakewood area are solid. Kids love it here.
