Working in Fort Smith -salaries realistic?

First post here. Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $168,100 on average. Median household income is $52,692, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much affordable but now it's surprisingly good.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The community vibe is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 9 years. Moved from Houston for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is tough - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Nightlife is limited. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
