OK so Been living here since 2009. Household incomes average around $66,556 in Fort Walton Beach. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The food scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
