I'm a chef who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Uptown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.
