Hey, I've been here for 11 years and You can expect to pay around $1,412 for rent here. Homes are going for about $277,300 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a major city city with about 941K people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Thanks! The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:

- Great outdoor activities nearby

- Lots of new development happening

- The job market scene is solid

The downsides:

- Winters are long and cold

- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..
