Curious what people think. I'm a 28-year-old nurse and Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $353,200 on average. Poverty rate is 11.7%, which is around average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in hospitality here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown
