Couple moving to Fortuna Foothills from out of state

Anyone else feel this way? Median household income is $57,583, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,178/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? Thanks in advance!

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Downtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Far from beaches/mountains. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

**Schools (if relevant):**

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Definitely worth checking out..
