Moving to Fortuna Foothills with kids -good idea?

Rent is about $1,178/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $57,583 in Fortuna Foothills. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? Thanks! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Houston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much affordable but now it's improving.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is improving in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Dallas about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is average.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Eastside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
