What's it really like living in Fortuna Foothills?

Hello, Median household income is $57,583, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $57,583 in Fortuna Foothills. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned?

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Maple Ridge area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2024 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Houston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much pricey but now it's tough.

I've lived in Old Town for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
