I've been here for 5 years and Rent is about $3,501/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Dallas about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'm a HR manager and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.
