Alright, I grew up here but left for a while. Homes are going for about $284,600 on average. Household incomes average around $65,568 in Fountainebleau. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Moved here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to school system but Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the East side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Raleigh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 14 years. Moved from Raleigh for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Chain restaurants dominate. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in North for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
