Hey, I work in healthcare and You can expect to pay around $1,172 for rent here. Household incomes average around $61,071 in Fowler. Poverty rate is 22.0%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $352,100, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,172/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.
Pros:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Worth the trade-offs? Thanks in advance! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 51, moved here 2 years ago from New York. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The weather situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 12 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Sunset area are solid. Kids love it here.
