Median household income is $51,654, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $918/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've been here 7 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Rising rent and home prices. And housing market can be frustrating.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
