Living in Fox Crossing -the reality

Curious what people think. It's a a small town city with about 18,960 people. You can expect to pay around $961 for rent here. Median household income is $74,423, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $228,000 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 9 years. Moved from LA for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is tough - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
