Should I move to Fox Crossing or stay in Sacramento?
I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. With a population of 18,960, Fox Crossing is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Fox Crossing sits at 131.6 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Seattle about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Boston it's underrated.
