Hi all, Rent is about $1,853/month for a decent place. With a population of 72,013, Framingham is a smaller city. Median household income is $98,179, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Does this match your experience? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Old Town) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've lived in Fairview for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The housing market scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
