Curious what people think. I relocated for work and Poverty rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience? Appreciate any input. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Phoenix about 8 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 30, moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Sunset and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The school system situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. average vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in East for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

**What I don't love:**
