Commute times in Frankfort -how bad?

Born and raised here. You can expect to pay around $935 for rent here. Household incomes average around $54,438 in Frankfort. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.

No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..
