Day-to-day life in Frankfort, KY

Random thought, We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Frankfort sits at 292.2 per 100K. Median household income is $54,438, which feels on the lower side for the area. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 26, moved here 12 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Riverside and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The food scene situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
