Frankfort vs Salt Lake City -which is better?

Alright, The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Frankfort sits at 292.2 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,452 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Southern places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (South) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much competitive but now it's pretty good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
