Hello, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $171,600 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do? Thanks for reading.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in government here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is improving. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 6 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
