Relocating to Frankfort Square, IL -pros and cons?
I'm originally from Baltimore and Homes are going for about $282,100 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from New York about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
