Biggest downsides of living in Franklin?

Hey, The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,127/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $212,500 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Asian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
