Job hunting in Franklin -tips?

Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $212,500 on average. Rent is about $1,127/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 8.5%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Italian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 38, moved here 5 years ago from Miami. I've lived in West and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cost of living situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely solid and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Dallas it's pretty good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Nashville about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
