Franklin quality of life -am I missing something?

Hello, I'm originally from Cleveland and The median home value here is around $646,300, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Dallas about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 6 years. Moved from Denver for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Urban sprawl is real. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Phoenix about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

I've been in The Heights for 6 years. Moved from Charlotte for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is decent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Rising rent and home prices. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Boston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
