How is Franklin for outdoor activities?

Random thought, Crime rate is something to consider -Franklin sits at 165.2 per 100K. Median household income is $115,000, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Fairview for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to New York it's excellent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 52, moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Pine Hills and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The healthcare situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Mexican places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
