Hi all, Median household income is $115,000, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $646,300, which is pretty steep. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? TIA! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 50, moved here 2 years ago from New York. I've lived in Fairview and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Can feel isolated
3. The safety situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cultural scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Riverside area are improving. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Dallas it's better than expected.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
