Hey everyone, I'm a 41-year-old restaurant manager and Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thoughts?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a HR manager and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Houston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.
