Unpopular opinion about Franklin Town

Been living here since 2024. Poverty rate is 4.2%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $567,100 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.

No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.
