Curious what people think. I've been here for 15 years and Household incomes average around $53,942 in Franklinville. You can expect to pay around $969 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Has anyone dealt with this? The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 39, moved here 10 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Pine Hills and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**

2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The housing market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
