Couple moving to Fredericksburg from out of state

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I've been here for 8 years and Homes are going for about $461,500 on average. Poverty rate is 10.3%, which is around average. The median home value here is around $461,500, which is pretty steep. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,383 people. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thanks! Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Bought a house here in 2019 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The school system is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
