Quick question about Fredericktown

Random thought, My partner and I are The median home value here is around $120,200, which is actually reasonable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cost of living scene is decent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Old Town area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 25, moved here 12 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Riverside and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The school system situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Francisco it's hit or miss.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much competitive but now it's excellent.
