Anyone regret moving to Freeport?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 13.2%, which is around average. The median home value here is around $86,100, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 7 years. Moved from Minneapolis for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Dating scene is rough. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Meadowbrook area are decent. Kids love it here.
