Been meaning to ask this. My family moved here when I was a kid. Median household income is $48,181, which feels on the lower side for the area. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Dallas about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
