What I wish I knew before living in Freeport

Anyone else feel this way? Crime rate is something to consider -Freeport sits at 119.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $479,700, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $118,755 in Freeport. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 44,102, Freeport is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
Thanks for reading. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in West area are improving. Kids love it here.
