Is Fremont still affordable?

Hey everyone, We have two kids and With a population of 229K, Fremont is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 229K people. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Moved here from Chicago about 10 years ago. it was the best decision I ever made. Still getting used to cost of living but Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
