OK so The median home value here is around $115,400, which is actually reasonable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from New York about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Hope this helps!.
