Is Fremont a good place to live?

Hey, We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $809 for rent here. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $115,400, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $809/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I work in engineering here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 7 years. Moved from Dallas for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a electrician and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
