Fresno vs Sacramento — which is better?

Random thought, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider — Fresno sits at 464.2 per 100K. Rent is about $1,324/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $348,500, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. Thanks! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Fairview) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
