We relocated for my husband's job in construction. Honestly the biggest downside is road conditions.
I'm paying /mo for a 3-bed in Madera area and honestly makes me consider roommates. With a population of 543,615, the city has a {city_feel}.
The weather took some getting used to but I actually love it now. Honestly the biggest downside is road conditions.
Am I being unrealistic?

Moved here from San Francisco and I'd say Nightlife is decent if you know where to go.. The cost of living here is pretty good compared to what I'm used to.

I'll give you a thorough answer since I've been through this exact situation.
I moved to Sunnyside from St. Louis about 11 years ago. Initially it felt a bit lonely. But after settling in, I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better..
A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out Sunnyside and McLane for housing
- Try the farmers market on Saturday mornings
- Talk to your neighbors - people are friendlier than you'd expect
The biggest adjustment was transit. I don't understand why more people don't talk about {hood}.. Overall I'd give Fresno a 8/10 for students.

Honestly it depends on what you prioritize. If affordability matters most, then yeah Fresno is great. But if you need nightlife, might want to look at Downtown instead.

Great question. Here's my honest take after 1 years:
The good:
- Affordable compared to coastal cities
- Growing job market
- Strong arts and culture scene
The not-so-good:
- Limited diversity in some areas
- Wind never stops
Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here.. I'd say for remote workers, Fresno is great. Good luck!

Food industry person here. The restaurant scene in Fresno is improving. The parks system here is underrated..
