Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 16.3%, which is higher than I expected. The unemployment rate is 5.4%, which is about average. The median home value here is around $348,500, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,324/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The dating scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The housing market is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely decent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (North) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Tampa about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
