I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 5.4%, which is about average. Median household income is $66,804, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 64°F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I wrong here? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Atlanta it's underrated.

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
