Fresno quality of life -am I missing something?

Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 24,087 people. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? Thanks for reading.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in healthcare here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is challenging. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Tampa it's average.
