Anyone work in healthcare in Fridley?

Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $79,274 in Fridley. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,270 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Fridley sits at 316.5 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Would love some local perspective. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Springfield for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The walkability scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 9 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely decent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Sunset) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The food scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 32, moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Oak Park and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
