Best kept secrets of Fridley, MN

Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Fridley sits at 316.5 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,944 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in North area are decent. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 9 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in construction here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is excellent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a lawyer and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 8 years. Moved from San Francisco for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not very walkable outside downtown. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
