I work in food service and Household incomes average around $136,485 in Friendly. It's a a small town city with about 11,673 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in South for 15 years. Moved from Austin for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Limited high-paying job options. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much growing but now it's average.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Charlotte it's average.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.
